Erickson's Flooring & Supply is a proud sponsor of Habitat for Humanity. Erickson's has donated over $200,000 worth of flooring products to Habitat for Humanity and is pleased that these ongoing efforts continue to benefit those in need in the communities we serve.

One of the owners of Erickson's, Dick Walters, has been involved with fund raising for The Old Newsboys' Goodfellow Fund for many years. It started with a small Christmas party in his friend Charlie's basement. Decoy collectors had gathered for some cheer and decided to have an auction. The decision was then made to give the auction money to the Old Newsboys' Fund.

When the gathering outgrew the basement, it was held at a few east side Detroit establishments. As of 1986, the Christmas Decoy Auction Party moved to Erickson's warehouse and will be there again this year on December 1st, as the rent was free and there was plenty of room. Attendance has grown over the years. With the help of his wife, children, grandchildren, and friends, the gathering has become a time of good cheer and the added benefit of money raised for a good cause.

For over twenty years the party has been held at the Ferndale warehouse. Thousands of dollars have been raised and given to the fund, whose slogan is "No kiddie without a Christmas."
